The Price of Conformity Georgie paused with his hand on the  door handle. He knew the   beauty salon would be full of men  happier than himself, gossiping, giggling and critiquing the latest styles in the men’s  fashion magazines. He took a deep breath and entered. Inside men  were having their hair  or nails done while in the waiting area wives and girlfriends tapped their feet,  frowned and looked at their watches. The stylists who recognized him gave Georgie a smile and wiggled their fingers.  Georgie brushed his  skirt and signed in with Carlo, the pretty  receptionist who put down his nail file long enough to sign Georgie in.
